Music Lesson Make-up Policy If your child will be absent from a lesson, please contact the instructor directly via email with at least 24 hours notice, if possible. A maximum of one student absence will be made up. Any instructor absence will be rescheduled and instructors will provide as much advance notice as possible. Any lessons missed due to snow days or instructor absence will be rescheduled. Also please support your child in consistent practice, bringing their materials to lessons and being prepared. _________________________ _______________ Parent Signature Date MUSIC LESSONS: Princeton Junior School is excited to offer private music lessons for students ages 4 through Grade 5. Lessons will take place each Friday afternoon at Princeton Junior School or at scheduled times. Students will be pulled from class time. When: Lessons are every Friday and assigned days and times after school beginning the week of Sept 18-Nov 13 (Make-up week of Nov 27) 9-week session 12:00-3 pm, 30 minute time slots Fees: $315 total for a 9-week session ($35 per lesson) Please note: Financial aid is not available for music lessons. Full Day Fridays: Children will be taken out of their scheduled class (Full day) during Fridays when there is a full day. Friday Focus: Instrument lessons will still be held on Friday Focus days. (Half day) Children taking lessons must be picked up at the regular 12noon dismissal and brought back for later afternoon lessons. There will be a drop-in fee of $30 for children not picked up at the 12noon dismissal. Children need to be picked up by their parents immediately following the lesson or they will be charged the drop-in aftercare fee of $30. MEET THE TEACHERS of the INSTRUMENTAL PROGRAM: Instrument: Piano/Keyboard/Clarinet/Saxophone Instructor: Tom Tallitsch Ages: K-5 Tom Tallitsch brings over 15 years of experience as a musician in clarinet, flute, piano, saxophone and composition. He is a Jazz saxophonist, recording artist, composer, Jazz and instrumental music educator, piano teacher for students with Autism, Musical Director for ‘Big Sky Project’ Dance Company, and Jazz radio host. He earned a BA at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music where he studied saxophone with an emphasis on Jazz. Students will use a piano provided by Princeton Junior School but should have their own keyboard at home for practice. Instrument: Electric or Acoustic Guitar/Bass/Drums Instructor: Dante Cimino Ages: K-5 Dante Cimino is the Music Director at the Princeton School of Rock. A professional drummer, Dante toured internationally with Dandelion as well as other bands including Radiohead, Goo Goo Dolls, the Ramones and Alanis Morrisette. Dante is a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, bass, and even the banjo. Following the School of Rock approach, Dante believes that “the best way to learn music is to play music.” Students will develop confidence and skills while listening to and learning real rock songs through ear training and responsive modeling. Instrument: Acoustic Guitar Instructor: Sharis Swartley Ages: K-5 Sharis Swartley is the Performing Arts teacher at PJS and has been teaching guitar lessons to young children for over 10 years. She is a singer-songwriter and professional musician with years of performance experience. She encourages her students to sing as they learn to play guitar because she believes it makes it an even more enjoyable experience to sing along with a song that you are learning. Students will need a wooden acoustic guitar, tuner (ideally a “Clip-on” that indicates the guitar is in tune with colored lights) and medium picks. A hard or canvas zippered case is needed to protect guitar for transport. You can download and print the registration form below if needed:
