MONDAYS:
Rolling into Robotics with Science Seeds 3-3:45 pm Pre-K-K $200
Come explore the amazing world of robotics. Design and build your own model robot that you can take home. Start to develop a basic understanding of coding. Play, tinker, explore and learn as you make Cubetto complete a variety of tasks. No typing, no screens!! Learn basic coding through experimentation. Materials Included.
About the Instructor:
Founded in 2008, Science Seeds is a science enrichment program that seeks to engage children and their parents in discovering the mysteries of the world we live in. We offer after-school classes, workshops, weekend maker sessions, summer camps and science-themed parties in an inviting, nurturing, family-friendly environment. We strive to motivate and engage young minds, encourage out-of-the-box thinking and promote the natural acquisition of a scientific vocabulary. We help children understand that getting wrong answers is part of discovering the right ones. From the initial “Wow!” where something seems like magic, our students observe, experiment and learn the science behind the magic until that “Aha!” moment when all the information coalesces into understanding. Then the students harness the power of their new knowledge to make something new and different: the “Cool!” stage. Our students become absorbed in the process of learning by doing.
At Science Seeds, we believe that science starts with questions about the world – the kind of questions that young children ask their parents and teachers every day. Our goal is to show young children that science and scientific thinking entail experimentation – processes through which kids (and their parents) can understand and answer questions about the world around them. Our activities dispel the myth that science is difficult and inaccessible, demonstrate to parents and kids that science is a part of their everyday experience and engage parents and their children in an ongoing process of exploration and discovery. Too often we confuse the results of scientific effort with the process of doing science. Textbooks full of facts and formulas are daunting and often dull. By contrast, the process of acquiring that knowledge is full of mystery, excitement, creative problem-solving, many wrong turns and the occasional brilliant insight. Science Seeds introduces children to this scientific adventure. We hope to make your child’s journey entertaining, rewarding and enriching.

Beginning Introduction to SABER FENCING 3:15-4:15 pm Grades 2-3 $275
We are pleased to offer this introduction to saber fencing as an after-school activity this winter. Fencing is a beautiful sport that combines elements of martial arts, chess-like strategy, balance, dance, and speed. A saber point is the fastest moving object in modern sport, besides a speeding bullet. Students need not be particularly athletic, but they MUST have sound self-management skills. Fencing is - with correct equipment - and extremely safe sport. However, it is a light contact sport involving a practice weapon, and we must thus strictly enforce a respectful and, above all, safe code of conduct.
All equipment will be provided. Students will use plastic swords innitially and later experience the metal ones. Students must wear athletic clothing and footwear to each class in order to participate. The class will meet in the Commons, though we may utilize the Sports Court on nice days for a change of scenery. Class size is limited to a slightly flexible 10-12 students, grade 2 and 3. Safety and proper management is one factor in this limit, but individualized instruction is a must for beginners. In the event of oversubscription, some preference will be granted for seniority and age-level maturity.
If you are unfamiliar with modern sport fencing, please have a look at the following video of the gold medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Seussical Kids Full Synopsis:As a child stumbles upon a lone red-and-white-striped hat, its curious owners, the Cats in the Hats (Cat 1, 2, and 3) appear and introduce the boy to the wondrous world of Seuss (“Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!”). The Cats begin their tales with the story of Horton the elephant who lives in the Jungle of Nool with Jungle Citizens (1, 2, 3 and 4) and several other unique creatures. One day, Horton is enjoying his bath when he hears a voice on a speck of dust asking for help (“Horton Hears A Who”). Though puzzled, Horton delicately places the speck onto a clover just as Sour Kangaroo and Young Kangaroo bounce along to inform Horton that there couldn’t possibly be a person on that speck. The Wickersham Brothers (1, 2, and 3), a trio of monkeys, join in on teasing Horton for believing such nonsense. A Talk Show Host interviews two neighbor birds named Gertrude McFuzz and Mayzie LaBird about Horton hearing things that don’t exist. The cries of help return, and this time Mr. Mayor and Mrs. Mayor reveal themselves to Horton as citizens of a tiny place called Whoville, along with the rest of the Whos (“Here On Who”). At this point, the boy from the beginning becomes JoJo, their son, and is blamed for what are actually the Cats’ mischievous ways. JoJo is left to take his bath, but the Cats aren’t done leading the boy into greater adventures (“Oh, The Things You Can Think! – Reprise”). The Cats and JoJo are swept underwater with Fish all around in McElligot’s Pool (“It’s Possible – Part 1 and Part 2”). Meanwhile, Horton still guards the clover and believes in the Whos despite the other animals’ judgments (“Alone In The Universe”). Horton and JoJo bond in their imaginations, and just as JoJo begins to fall asleep, the Cats wake him to tell him the story of Gertrude McFuzz (“The One Feather Tail Of Miss Gertrude McFuzz”). Gertrude tries everything to impress Horton, self-conscious of her small, plain tail. He never notices, and as she concludes her sad tale, the Wickersham Brothers return to steal the clover away (“Monkey Around/Chasing The Whos”). Horton chases them through great stretches of jungles, beaches and sand, but the monkeys hand over the clover to Vlad Vladikoff, a black-bottomed eagle who drops the Whos into a field of clovers. Mayzie reappears and asks Horton if he would consider sitting on her egg. Horton agrees (“Horton Sits On The Egg/Dilemma”) and finally, after fifty-one weeks, Mayzie returns. Horton pleads with Mayzie to take her egg back, but Mayzie relinquishes her responsibility. Horton tells the egg that he’ll protect it and sings the egg a lullaby (“Solla Sollew”). Just as things seem hopeless, Gertrude McFuzz appears with the clover and the Whos intact (“The Whos Return”). As Horton is reunited with the Whos, everyone returns to take Horton to court for “talking with a speck, disturbing the peace, and loitering... on an egg.” Judge Yertle remands Horton to the Nool Asylum and decides that the dust speck be boiled in a kettle of beezlenut oil. JoJo saves the day (Yopp!), and the Whos are saved! JoJo is honored as “Thinker Nonstop,” and the egg hatches into an Elephant Bird. As the adventure comes to an end (“Oh, The Thinks You Can Think – Finale”), JoJo reappears with the Cats’ hat and pulls it over his eyes, ending this story with one last reprise (“Green Eggs And Ham – Bows)”.
Characters:
Jojo JoJo is the audience’s link to the story. The audience follows the narrative through his eyes (he’s also referred to as Child), so it’s most important to cast a young man with an earnest and open disposition. He should be a great singer and actor.
The Cats The Cats (Cat 1, Cat 2, Cat 3) are mischievous, spirited creatures who take JoJo and the audience on quite an adventure. Cast three actors, male or female, with great singing chops and who can move well. Since the Cats take on different roles throughout the play, these actors should be bold, versatile and able to switch roles at the drop of a dime.
Horton Horton is a loveable elephant with a heart of gold. Cast a young performer who can sing well and convey great loyalty and conviction to the Whos.
Mr. Mayor Mr. Mayor is the mayor of Whoville and the perfect picture of patriarchy. He tries to keep the town happy and secure, which is quite a job since the tiny Whos are always in danger of being swept away and lost. Cast a young man who can portray an older age and a sense of authority. Mr. Mayor has a few featured lines sung with Mrs. Mayor, so it’s great if the two actors’ voices work well together.
Mrs. Mayor Mrs. Mayor is the mayor’s wife and is most concerned with trying to make sure her son, JoJo, stays in line. Cast a fine singer and actor complementary of Mr. Mayor and JoJo, whose voice blends well with Mr. Mayor.
Gertrude McFuzz Gertrude McFuzz is a bird with tail envy! Cast a great performer who can sing, act and is a perfect match for Horton.
Mayzie LaBird Mayzie LaBird is a sneaky bird who tricks Horton into helping her take care of her egg. Cast a young woman who can express a fun, jovial and careless spirit.
Sour Kangaroo Sour Kangaroo is as sour as a kangaroo can be. Cast a young woman who can sing and act well and can serve up a good deal of attitude. Feel free to cast a younger performer in the role of Young Kangaroo, who could be played by a boy or girl. They should function well as a pair.
Young Kangaroo Sour Kangaroo is as sour as a kangaroo can be. Cast a young woman who can sing and act well and can serve up a good deal of attitude. Feel free to cast a younger performer in the role of Young Kangaroo, who could be played by a boy or girl. They should function well as a pair.
Wickersham Brothers The Wickersham Brothers (Wickersham 1, Wickersham 2, Wickersham 3) are a trio of trouble-making monkeys! Cast three boys or girls who can make strong physical choices, complement one another well and bring a strong, diverse energy to their mischief. Wickersham 3 has mostly solos that aren’t sung, so make sure that actor has great diction and a strong sense of rhythm.
Judge Yertle Judge Yertle the turtle presides over Horton’s court proceedings. This is a fun role for a performer who can make strong acting choices.
Vlad Vladikoff Vlad Vladikoff is an eagle who drops Whoville into a field of clovers! Cast a young performer who has a great sense of comedy and can make strong acting choices in this fun cameo role.
Ensemble The Whos, Jungle Citizens (1-5), Fish, the Wickershams, the Talk Show Host and Marshal are all essential roles for creating the vivid and imaginative world of Seuss. Each creature or person should embody the characters with bold choices and a strong connection to the rest of the players.

About the Instructors:
Stuart and Winnie Woody have a mission to expose as many children as possible to golf and tennis--period. That mission fuels their passion for these sports that allow for fitness, family and social time, and the possibility of being outdoors as well. Coach Stuart has a passion for both golf and tennis that began just about when he learned to walk! Growing up in the South, he was able to enjoy these sports almost year-round. As a teaching professional and Coach since 1999, Stuart’s mission is to get as many golf clubs and tennis racquets in children’s hands as possible. Whether he is practicing the serve with his Hun Tennis team members or doing the "flying flea" with our four year-old tennis players he believes “When children fall in like with these sports, they will play with family, friends, and business associates for the rest of their lives.” He and Coach Winnie feel strongly that if the children are nurtured and allowed to "find their voice" in a joyful environment with these sports, they will enjoy them from ages 4 to 99:)

MONDAYS:
Introduction to SABER FENCING for BOYS 3:15-4:15 pm Grades 3-5 $200
We are pleased to offer this introduction to saber fencing as an after-school activity this fall. Fencing is a beautiful sport that combines elements of martial arts, chess-like strategy, balance, dance, and speed. A saber point is the fastest moving object in modern sport, besides a speeding bullet. Students need not be particularly athletic, but they MUST have sound self-management skills. Fencing is - with correct equipment - an extremely safe sport. However, it is a light contact sport involving a practice weapon, and we must thus strictly enforce a respectful and, above all, safe code of conduct. All equipment will be provided. Students must wear athletic clothing and footwear to each class in order to participate. The class will meet in the Commons, though we may utilize the Sports Court on nice days for a change of scenery. Class size is limited to a slightly flexible 4-8 students, grades 3 and up. Safety and proper management is one factor in this size limit, but individualized instruction is a must for beginners. In the event of oversubscription, some preference will be granted for seniority and age-level maturity.
If you are unfamiliar with modern sport fencing, please have a look at the following video of the gold medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGearEu2PlU
About the Instructor:
Stephen Kovacs (5th Grade teacher) is a former national champion, Team USA member, and elite fencing coach. Stephen coaches all levels, from beginners to national champions and world team members. He has been a Saber Coach at Duke University and Head Coach at Stevens Institute of Technology. A decorated multi-time national champion himself, Stephen inspires students not only with a love of the sport, but also a work ethic and problem solving skills that will assist students in all walks of life.
Notable recent students: Becca Ward, three-time NCAA champion (2009-2012), Jr. and Senior World Champion(2006), Olympic Bronze Medalist (2008) Greg Puccio - 5th place Division 2, national championships, 14th place Division 1 North American Cup (open to Canada and Mexico as well as USA) (2014, 2015) Zoe Kim - ranked number 1 in region and 3rd in USA, Youth 12 Division, ranked 7th Youth 14 Division (current)

WEDNESDAYS:
Dance Club with Ms Box 3:15-4:15 pm Pre-K-5 $175
Miss Box believes that dance movement is so important for children, especially of the younger age, because it helps build each child’s self-confidence while developing their memorization skills in order to remember each dance routine. This club will give each child an opportunity to have fun through dancing while keeping active and learning new things with friends!
About the Instructor:
Christina Box is a student teacher from Rider University who has her placement at Princeton Junior School this spring. She is currently teaching in the Toddlers Class, and will be working with the 5th Grade Class after spring break. She is also leading choreography for our production of Peter Pan! It’s no surprise that Miss Box has grown to love the welcoming environment that Princeton Junior School has given her, and truly enjoys getting involved with the curriculum and after school activities! Miss Box began dancing at age 3, and has been given many opportunities and a lot of experience in training, teaching, and choreographing within the dance styles of ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip-hop, and contemporary. Realizing her passion for dance and teaching, she decided to become a dance teacher at an early age. She taught at different dance schools as well as various theater companies to children between the ages of 5 and 18.

TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS:
Introduction to SABER FENCING 3:15-4:15 pm Grades 2-5 $300
We are pleased to offer this introduction to saber fencing as an after-school activity this spring.
The class will meet twice per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) for nine weeks. All equipment will be provided. Students must wear athletic clothing and footwear to each class in order to participate. The class will meet in the Commons, though we may utilize the Sports Court on nice days for a change of scenery. Class size is limited to a slightly flexible 10-12 students, grade 2 and up. Safety and proper management is one factor in this limit, but individualized instruction is a must for beginners. In the event of oversubscription, some preference will be granted for seniority and age-level maturity. If this class is successful, we will be happy to extend this opportunity again at Princeton Junior School in the future.
If you are unfamiliar with modern sport fencing, please have a look at the following video of the gold medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGearEu2PlU
About the Instructor:
As some of you know, Stephen Kovacs (5th Grade teacher) is a former national champion, Team USA member, and elite fencing coach. Stephen coaches all levels, from beginners to national champions and world team members. He has been Saber Coach at Duke University and Head Coach at Stevens Institute of Technology.

WEDNESDAYS
Musical Bridges 3:15-4:30pm Grades K-5 $175
This musical ensemble class is meant to bring children together so that they may learn to joyously play their instruments cohesively and in harmony with one another. The first lessons will be used to focus on laying the foundations of instrumental playing through scale work and exercises specifically written for the ensembles’ needs. Later, as the ensemble progresses, small orchestral pieces will be arranged and practiced so that they can become performance ready. Our plan is to eventually not only play for our school community, but to also share our music with local homes for the elderly. Students interested will need to have access to an instrument by the second week of school. Please see Instrumental Program information for rental and purchase suggestions.
Please email Asela Zamorano at [email protected] for further information. She is our new Grade 3 teacher. Ms. Asela Zamorano has been a violinist, pianist, and harpsichordist for a major part of her life.
