HOMEWORK

General Expectations:
Students usually receive homework weeknights, Monday through Thursday evenings. This homework should not take more than 30-45 minutes, and may sometimes take less. An exception to this would be IB Unit Projects, which can take a considerable amount of planning, research, and preparation, and may very well require weekend work. We also request that each student read approximately 30 minutes in a book of their choice these nights, as well as at least once, Fri- Sun. While I will inquire as to the progress and titles of these books, students will generally be on the honor system for this reading. I request your support in this matter by occasionally checking in with your child and asking them about what they are reading for pleasure. Homework is to be handed in first thing in the morning on my desk. It is generally returned to the student later that day. I ask students to keep returned homework in their binder folders so that parents may see it at their convenience. Should there be any issues with timeliness, completion, comprehension, or effort, I will let parents know promptly. In the first part of this year, all students are required to copy homework assignments from the board into their planners, verbatim. Students are not dismissed until I have checked the completion of this important task. Once students are in this habit, I will post important and/or multi-day assignments here. I will try to include links and/or files to support students in these assignments. |
