- We have been exploring new techniques in the studio and working on multiple themes. Kindergarten and First Grade are exploring the idea of Seasons, Fall is the inspiration. Students express the way people live around the world during the different seasons.
- Kindergarten has developed clay sculptures, oil pastel drawings and started collage compositions that represent the landscape.
- First Grade has been working on two murals with oil pastels and tempera.
- Second Grade is exploring the idea of the Market place using mixed media, multiple materials and exploring new compositions.
- Third Grade is researching the different markets and their place in the world, creating mixed media artworks, drawings and collages.
- Forth Grade has been exploring the traditions of their community during the Fall. They developed ceramic sculptures, sketches, still life compositions and a picture of "Thanksgiving in their home" (with a group project in clay).
- Fifth Grade has been exploring the idea of Cartography, maps that help us visualize the world and the ideas behind it. Students created maps on circular paper by mixing oil pastels, tempera and drawing with fine points. The following project is called "Tectonic plates" and will be clay sculptures that represent different landscapes and will be functional objects.

Visual Arts Program Princeton Junior School Art is in the foundation of learning at our school, students develop individual concepts and learn in a project based environment. We encourage interdisciplinary practices that promote the creativity by bringing concepts that are connected with the different IB units of inquiry in each grade. Our students are learning to communicate, expressing and discovering through the artmaking process inspired in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, but with the experience of our faculty and the unique learning possibilities of Princeton Junior School. We are a community based program, where students, parents and society interact and learn from each experience. We will be exhibiting our student’s art projects at the Princeton Library, at Princeton University, Princeton Symphony, at PJS commons and at other cultural spaces. We promote in our students internationally minded ideas, transdisciplinary projects and to be open to the global culture and society. Princeton Junior School is exhibiting a series of artworks in Celebration of Fall at the Princeton Public Library. This is a great opportunity to share the talent of our students and participate in a dialogue with our community. Art by K-4th grades will be on display in the 3rd floor of the Library for two weeks.
