The Toddlers and Preschool have been beginning to explore the new Music Together Collection called Bells! We have been learning new songs and having opportunities to experiment with bells and zylophones of all sizes and shapes.
The K/I have also been experimenting with the Orff instruments and are learning to listen to each other and experience creating patterns and playing them together to create music as a group. They also learned about Peter and The Wolf and how instruments can tell a story of their own.
Grades 2/3 have been experimenting with creating rhythm patterns on instruments to build songs and dances together. They have made orchestras using body percussion and their voices in instrument circles. We've experimented with using dynamics to give texture to our music. We've also learned a song about articulation and used tounge twisters. We have learned how important projection is when performing and communicating and discussed the relationships between music and feelings.
Grades 4 and 5 have been focusing on continuing to develop their recorder playing and music reading and writing skills. They are gearing up for a song writing project where they will compose together using multiple instruments along with lyric writing. They are also exploring doing some more theater games and ways to express their creativity in a variety of forms.
