Hello everyone, and welcome back!
I hope that you all had a wonderful vacation with family and friends. First, I would like to thank you all for your kindness and generosity in remembering me and my family this year. Your wonderful gift was much appreciated and put to excellent use: some nice presents for my kids, among other things. This week, we will be working on the following: Math - in the early part of the week, we will get the brains back in gear with a review of adding and subtracting fractions, including mixed numbers. We will be moving on to multiplication and division. There will be a short quiz on Friday which will only be on adding and subtracting with unlike denominators (review) Language Arts: The students will be reading a short story in common (The Landlady), as well as getting back into Reading Response Journals. Students will be finishing their personal creative writing pieces (children's books) for their K-1 reading buddies. A vocab list will be given today, and a quiz will be next Monday. Unit of Inquiry - Digital Media: We will briefly review digital citizenship before embarking on some blogging. We will be learning about digital authorship and students will publish their children's books online. A research assignment will be given, and students will be expected to create a digital presentation for classmates. This will be due in about 3 weeks. I look forward to seeing all those smiling faces and hearing about everyone's break tomorrow morning! Best, Stephen Kovacs |
