Through play students are discovering different features of our community. The dramatic play area has been an active post office, train station, firehouse, and an airport. Through play preschoolers are making sense of the world around them. Their imagination ignites as they develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally, and gain the self confidence and flexibility required to engage in new experiences and environments. After the Firefighter Jack came to visit the preschoolers began playing fire station. They used blocks from the block area as a cell phone to "call 9-1-1" They practiced "crawling on the floor- when you see smoke". They also practiced the "stop, drop, and roll" safety technique. In this picture to the left the children are in a fire truck heading to the next emergency.
Traveling to a local sustainable farm located on the Lawrenecville Prep School campus was a blast. Preschoolers and parents experienced how farm life is organized. Farmer Jacob showed us what he does on the farm and how he helps his community. | |
