In math students sorted hearts by color. They also counted and graphed the results. They measured (using nonstandard units /bears) three different size hearts and recorded their answers. Some students used a ruler and measured in inches. They created patterns using snowflakes and hearts. Students also played a counting /matching game using heart cut outs. A math board game was introduced this week. Students not only practiced counting and adding during this game but practiced positive social skills such as group problem solving, turn-taking, and cooperation.
Snow is our friend. So of course, we went to play. Through play we learned communication skills, following routines and listening to directions..... And we polished our fine and gross motor skills. Preschoolers are enjoying our new student teacher, Miss Nicole. Through many read alouds, discussions, and games students are understanding the value of speaking and listening. They are learning that the world around them is full of visual language that conveys meaning. They are realizing that numbers are used for many different purposes in the real world.
Games are a fun way to learn communication and social skills. ![]() On Ground Hog Day we went sledding with our classroom beaver, Beevie. (cousin of the ground hog) The students also went outside and explored their creative side. They expressed themselves using water color spray paint on snow and paper. Museum of Me
