The last two weeks of school in the year 2015 have been wonderful. We had a potpourri of learning experiences, from wrapping up many presents (pinecone wildlife feeders, Mystery Creature & Me books, wooden spiral ornaments) to engaging in writing and reading with our PJS Language and Math consultant, Dr. Suzanne Gespass.

This week we discussed bones. Students noticed we all have bones and other living things have bones too. We measured different kinds of bones with counting cubes and even looked at X-rays. We illustrated and labeled bones in our science journals. We took a hike and found two skeletons. (opossum, fox) That was exciting! We finished our books called, "The Mystery Creature and Me". In art studio we created creature homes using natural materials, clay creature sculptures, and creature pictures using charcoal. Mrs. Z helped us set up a trap. She put cabbage in it to lure the mystery creature. Cabbage didn't seem to work so we added dog food. Now we are waiting patiently. We are so lucky! This week we had a parent read to us. We listened to and enjoyed a Russian tale and a book about Tacky the Penguin. Another parent shared her family dogs, "Hank & Emma".
