Dear Families, We hope you have had a lovely weekend and have enjoyed the beautiful snowfall. More snow is expected this week. Kindly remember to send your child in with snow boots, snow pants, hats, scarves, and mittens so he/she may enjoy the outdoors. You may want to send in a fresh pair of socks just in case their feet get wet. Also, don't forget the indoor shoes as we like to keep the carpets clean and dry. The PJS family has been hit by various stomach and cold viruses. Kindly remind your child to wash their hands before and after eating, coming in from the outdoors, and after going to the bathroom. If you child exhibits signs of being ill or a fever, kindly keep him/her home as we do not want to spread germs within our classroom or the PJS family. Grade 2/3 Curriculum Night is this Wednesday, January 28, 5:00-6:00 pm. Kindly RSVP on the Sign-Up Genius if you plan on attending. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held February 19th and 20th. Sign Up Genius will be emailed so you may sign up for a 25 minute conference. If the conference times do not work for your schedule, kindly let us know so we may schedule a mutually convenient time. (Please note there will be early dismissal on both days.) Biography/Family Tree Presentations will be held on Friday, February 6. Also, please send your child in with a filled, reusable water bottle to use throughout the day as they often become thirsty after play and a day of learning. Please send Ilana Gutierrez your soup and/or salad recipes for the PJS Cookbook: [email protected] This past week, students continued to develop their inquiry into our current central idea, "Individuals learn about themselves and the world through their relationships with others" through our reading and writing. Many were eager to continue researching biographies through their reading as they asked questions such as, "What inspired them to have such integrity?", "How did he has so much courage to accomplish what he did?" This in turn, aided the students in the interviewing process as they were able to ask pertinent questions pertaining to their interviewee. Many were excited to share the answers to the burning questions they had. Some of which are, "How did you meet Daddy?" "I first saw Daddy walking through campus and we smiled at each other." "Daddy and I met while having a yard sale on our street." "Daddy and I were at a Christmas party, and before we knew it, we were the last ones still talking! So, we decided to go on a date!" "What was your happiest day?" "When I married your mother." "When I married your father and the days we had you and your sisters." "What inspires you?" "My family" "You!" |
Grade 3 continues to explore multiplication. They have been solidifying their knowledge of multiplication facts and expanded on their knowledge from single digit multiplication into two digit multiplication. They will also begin to examine factors of numbers in the coming week as preparation for their division studies.
