We hope you are enjoying the snow-filled weekend along with the warmer temperatures today is bringing.
Due to the holiday, snow day, and conferences, last week was short! We are looking forward to getting "back to a normal schedule" with the children in the week ahead.
"The rain takes away the dirt and makes a valley" ~ Manaal
"WOW! It looks like lava helps make a mountain!" ~ Micah
"Rain moves the mountain because it sort of melts it!" ~ Sophia
"There are bubbles in the lava as it pours out of the volcano. That makes the rock of the mountain." ~
~William
Each student then began noticing, thinking and wondering "What else makes the earth what it is and how does it continually reshape itself?" The students began to discover the answers to their questions through non-fiction reading and researching such topics as oceans, rivers, volcanos, tsunamis, glaciers, and earthquakes.
In math, the students continued to work on the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We also began thinking about fractions as well as how to tell time.
A few reminders for the week ahead:
Kindly remember to send in a reusable water bottle with your child as they are often thirsty throughout the day.
Student Share: A new schedule for March will be posted in next week's blog. Please remember that a share should be something that is appropriate for ALL of our students to view and listen to, and should not exceed 5 minutes in length. The purpose of the share is to share information about important events in our lives, practice our presentation skills, and allow for opportunity for students to offer empathetic comments or ask clarifying questions. Shares may include a special book, a trip with our family, photographs, etc. but MAY NOT be a toy. If you need, kindly email us if you would like to receive our initial letter concerning share given at the beginning of the year.
Word Study Homework: Each student will be given new word study activities on Monday, February 22. The purpose of new activities is to ensure solid knowledge and understanding of the word patterns being studied within a new format. Kindly email us if you have any questions or concerns.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Sunday!
Kindly,
Anne & Britt
