Thanks for your attendance at the student-led conferences. The children were so excited to show their portfolios, and it was fun to watch them lead so confidently. If you haven’t returned your child’s portfolio, please do so as soon as possible so it can be finished.
Just to wrap up our marketplace unit, we wanted to let you know the final decision that the children made for their donation to Heifer International. With the help of all the parents, the children were able to raise $499.40! Here’s what they gave:
2 Goats at $240.00
1 Sheep at $120.00
2 flocks of Chicks at $40.00
2 Heifer shares at $100.00

In Grade 2
Math Workshop: It’s game week! We will be using all of our math skills to learn and play new games this week. There will even be a game coming home for homework, so be on the lookout for that.
Readers’ and Writers’ Workshop: We will focus on writing paragraphs as responses to what we read. Children will be asked to write about a central topic and support their writing with information from the text.
In Grade 3
Math Workshop: we will continue reviewing concepts like multiplication and division, then take a look at the partial quotients strategy for division of larger numbers.
In Readers’ and Workshop, we continue talking about our books, making book recommendations, and comparing similarities and differences between the books we’ve read. It’s wonderful to hear readers having such fruitful and authentic discussions about characters, problems, and resolutions. With the year winding down, writers continue to work on pieces they’ve already begun, working through the writing process independently OR re-examining a “published” piece with a new lens and seeing what changes they would make.
In our 2/3 learning community
IB Unit Inquiry: The children continue to work on their individual or group projects this week. They are finishing with collecting information, and they are starting to plan how they will show what they have learned. When you talk to your child this week, don’t forget to ask about how their project is going.
