This past Friday 2/3 had our presentation for our Storytelling Unit. Students practiced tirelessly; time was spent rewriting, editing, rehearsing stories and perfecting form. All this work paid off as parents and staff visited the three performances spaces and heard each student's story. We were proud to host you and thankful for your presence.
This week we began thinking about our new unit on Simple Machines. We asked thoughtful questions and recorded student thinking to see what we know and what we want to know. Students considered what a simple machine is and what the world would be like without simple machines. We then watched some historically relevant clips about how some of our oldest and most famous structures (Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids) may have been built with the aid of simple machines. The students were amazed!
In Math Workshop this week we were assessing! We completed our multiplication unit and did a multiplication assessment. We then did a pre-assessment for the beginning of our study of measurement which will be integrated into our unit on simple machines.
