Good Afternoon Families,
We hope you are enjoying this snowy day!
Just a few announcements to begin our week...
Kindly remember to bring in a filled, reusable water bottle with your child each day. They become very thirsty as they work incredibly hard as the moves forward.
Kindly remember to send in snow pants, boots, hat, gloves or mittens along with a dry pair of indoor shoes with your child. We do go outside to play in the snow.
The Ok Corral Field Trip to the Adventures Aquarium is on Wednesday, March 4, 9am-2:30pm. Please let us know if your child has any motion sickness as we will be driving for about an hour. We recommend sending them in with a "sick bag" like those on airplanes if so. Please pack field trip friendly snacks, lunch, and water for your child as we will be eating at the aquarium. We are in need of one more chaperone. Kindly email us if you are interested in attending.
A March Share schedule is posted. Please click on the icon above entitled Share Schedule.

Researching for our Expert Festival on our unit, "Earth's surface is constantly reshaping itself and changing the landscape", the children are connecting their prior knowledge of landforms to what they are learning about the ever changing landscape of earth.
新年快乐!
The Year of the Goat
Happy New Year! Mrs. Tang graciously visited our classroom and shared her knowledge of celebrating the Chinese New Year. The students eagerly asked questions such as, "What year is it?", "What year was I born?", "What decorations do you have?", and "How do you say Happy New Year in Chinese?". The children found out their animal sign of good fortune. Those who were born in 2006 share characteristics such as courageous, warm-hearted, and confident. Those who were born in 2007 share characteristics such as honest, kind and light-hearted. Each child was given a gift of rare currency that is no longer minted in a beautifully wrapped red package. Red is the color of good fortune. Thank you, Mrs. Tang!

What color is the dress? | Students use their knowledge of reading non-fiction to help their expert piece research. |
Turning the Internet sensation of "What color is the dress? Blue and black or white and gold?" during snack, students inquired as to explore why some people see blue and black and why some people see white and gold. Some of their theories are as follows:
"It's an optical illusion." ~ William
"Some people see gold and blue!" ~ Myla
After much discussion and debate, and a little help from scientists, students figured out that it all boils down to how different color wave lengths fire to your brain. Light helps each brain to figure out what the colors are depending upon what time of the day it is.

There are many Ok Corral students performing in the "Wizard of Oz" this coming weekend. Lucky to be visited by a few over the weekend... Break a Leg Kids!
Wishing all of you a wonderful Sunday!
