Dear Families,
Welcome to Grades 2/3! It is an honor to be your child’s teachers for this academic year. We take this endeavor very seriously. Our biggest hope is that we can all be committed towards establishing and fostering a relationship that is just, authentic, and respectful. Once this foundation is laid and we can collectively model kindness, and enthusiasm for learning and the world in which we live, we believe your child will thrive.
In order to have a successful year together, we will communicate with you in various ways. First of all, we will have information on our classroom blog to share student learning. We will share this with you in the coming weeks. Electronic mail or phone calls will be used for immediate information. We hope that you will feel comfortable communicating with us whenever you have a need or a question of any kind. Kindly sign up for the RSS Feed to the right of the screen in order to receive notifications of the blog update.
As we embark on our planning for the year, we wanted to give you a general idea for how we will be structuring the Grade 2/3 classrooms. Even though there will be many exciting opportunities to bring the gifts of both grades and teachers together, there will also be some fixed routines. Ms. Zamorano, will be taking the lead for the third grade class, while our returning teacher Mrs. Korsen, will be taking the lead for the second grade class. This will allow the returning third grade students the ability to continue the established routines and expectations learned in Grade 2, while embracing the opportunity to be positive leaders and role models in our mixed-age classroom. Simultaneously, the second grade students will transition into the role of a second grader by actively learning the established routines, expectations, and procedures of being a second grader.
We are extremely excited to get to know you and your child in the weeks to come. We have been thinking so much about the type of lessons that we would like to bring to your children that are both purposeful and meaningful. But in the end, it is through our day to day interactions with them, and you, that the best lessons will arise. Please look for a brief questionnaire that we will send home during the first week that will allow you to give me some initial information about your child. As for now, we are happily working in the classroom these next weeks in preparation for your children. Please feel free to come by for a visit if you happen to be driving by.
Remember that you are your son\daughter’s first teacher and we thank you again for your time and your trust as we look forward to the times that we will spend together for the benefit of your child.
Sincerely,
The Gr. 2/3 Team
Anne Korsen ([email protected])
Asela Zamorano ([email protected])
p.s. Kindly remember to send in indoor and outdoor shoes as we will have Sports on the first day.
